I had to get to campus extra-early for a meeting. Worth it. Had an absolutely amazing ride (I’d forgotten how much I love riding in the dark!) and then caught this sunrise. Awesome. This is my favourite time of year for riding.

Wow–I cannot imagine riding in the dark (mostly because of the critters skittering across the roads around here), but how incredible it must be to experience such a sunrise as this from your bike! And you must have the road to yourself–the smells, the feel of the sharp morning wind on your skin, the sound of the tires, your feet, the birds…
dark riding is fun – you need lights, obviously, but it’s much more peaceful than busy daytime riding. Not sure I’d want to try it on the highway, though. On the pathways and residential streets, it’s quite safe. But highway speeds would be pretty scary, even with blinky lights and dorky reflecty vests making me visible
