I don’t think I know any. Well, maybe, but all of them are posting their stuff on Flickr as well – the most successful one posts everything he shoots on Flickr under a CC license (including shots that clients allow him to post)

Yup. The art director tracked down my phone number and called me. We talked briefly, and he was surprised I wasn’t asking for money. No, I said, as long as you abide by CC:by, you can use them for free. That’s the whole point. If you can’t put attribution, then we can negotiate a price. He said of COURSE he’d put attribution – they do that with all photos. Done and dunner. He sent me a copy of the magazine to see what kinds of stuff they publish, and also sent me a copy of the one with my photos in it.

Had they asked for leave to use them first? I realize that it’s not necessary, and just a courtesy, but it’s nice to be asked.

certainly, emmi. All of my photos on Flickr are released under a simple Creative Commons license, and are available free of charge for any use – as long as proper attribution is given with the image.
