Its first outing was to a drive in put on by a local hot rod club. More time was spent looking at cars than the movie. Both of these films are actually quite smart, and the writing is far superior than most of the films they give Oscars to these days. A gem of a film to have a last drive-in experience with. What I love about Alligator is it one was one the two great b-movies written by the great, if uneven, John Sayles to fund his own independent films (the other was Piranha).
