It looks like they're aiming it at OEMs right now.

I signed up for their "please spam me" service in the hopes of getting notified when it's available as a standalone unit. It'd be just the ticket for small-group presentations.

@Tony that pico projector looks amazing. I want one. Couldn't find a price, but if they're marketing it at tweens to play music videos in their bedrooms, it's gotta be pretty cheap :-)

Or, better still, one of these "pico projectors". 220 grams (including battery) sounds a lot better than 565 grams, in terms of something I'd want to add to my daily load.

@Joseph I've got a few ideas for augmented field trips, including sharing live data with other classes (and with younger students to involve them in the activity without being a burden)

@Jolin I agree - I've often wished my iPod Touch had the screen size of my old Newton - but then it wouldn't fit in my pocket anymore... There is probably a fair amount of work that can be done with creative user interfaces to make the most of a small screen - the Mobile Safari pinch-zoom web page scaling could be used effectively, as can the page flipping etc... Maybe combined with one of these "pocket projectors" to create a larger shared screen?

There will always be conflict between the size of screen and portability.
I have been imaging whether we can fold and unfold the screen.

The Geolocation thing gets me going. Great tool for like a biology class or something, let's say the prof puts the coordinates up to a specific kind of rare tree, for example, and the students are supposed to go find it to take a look. Could be a lot of fun, too.
