Ok.
But some people actually kind of like them,as you must have seen if you googled me!!
I try and get hold of the person I write them for and many have thanked me, including Mr. Hooper over in England!
I won't take your criticism to heart!!
No more poetry for you, though!
Take care.

Gee... um, wow!

Do you have a license to mangle all of those (otherwise) perfectly good words?

(Someone should have told you not to be a poet when you grow up. back in grade 3, I fear.)

Lora, a quick google for your name shows that you're spewing this terrible poetry all over the 'net. Please set up your own blog or something, rather than dumping your garbage here. Thanks.

I can't help myself.
Men must understand evolution.

The Source of the River

Inspired by The River by Mr. Edward Hooper
Many years of righteous research and wondrous words!

The river of tears from Africa, must be followed to its source.
Medical knowledge will be gained. Then we can use full force,
To fight AIDS, which started in the Congo. We know man is ambitious.
Polio had struck his kids, his hero. Here drink the monkey. It is delicious.
Kids get to test vaccinations. Can such sadness be resolved?
How could man foresee it! A new killer has evolved!
The source of the river has got to be explored. It is academic!
Vaccines in animal parts may have started an avoidable pandemic.
Ed Hooper took up the quest for truth. After careful thought, I agree.
If we do not believe that truth is worth striving for, we will cease to be.

Love Lora Bruncke

Becoming Compassionate

Inspired by Born Cannibal
by James Miles
Read it if you dare!

Evolutionary ideas are hard to take, even though evidence is hard to fake.
Many say, “No! For Heaven's sake! It can't be true!” Will we soon awake?
Survival of the fittest was natures way, to ensure our immune system saved the day.
It took billions of years or so they say! Darwin's ideas! Some are surely ok.
He had many visions that were oh so new. Theories that made others sputter and stew.
The good news is if it's true, we are getting better, both me and you.
Man's bad nature can be explained. Relatives to chimpanzees entertained.
An Adam and Eve story was ingrained. A clear version of origin can be refrained.
From one cell, to two, to four then to more. We started to multiply, score upon score.
What god to follow? Who to adore? Or should I say, What? Are some bad to the core!
Many are looking for a religious savior. Should we not examine man's behavior?
Species come in many a flavour. Why race at all? Why not just savor?
Start with the truth because lies are bad. Add our best science. Not so sad!
A more comprehensive story. Don't get mad. Once we see it, we will all be glad!
Culture determines what we see and do. So do our genes. Please think it through.
Becoming compassionate will follow, too, if the evolution of man is rendered true.

Nikki, as the father of a child diagnosed with autism (PDD-NOS) I get how hard it must be for you. Actually, strike that. I have no idea. I know a bit about how hard it is for my son (who is nearly 6 now), but can't imagine what it must be like struggling through school with PDD.

I hope you're able to find a normal relationship, and know that someone is out there who will love you for who you are, and be able to see through the labels.

Awesome post!

I was born a few years before the HIB vaccination, and at <1 yo contracted HIB meningitis. Of those that survive, they have the possibility of deafness, blindness, mental retardation, and infertility (among other things). The survivors also have a 40% probability of developing a PDD, including autism. I was lucky... So far that I know, my only complication is Asperger's Syndrome. That being said, I wouldn't necessarily count myself too lucky. While it is manageable and possible to be considered highly functional by your society's standards, it isn't easy, by any means...

If I am ever capable of sustaining a "normal" relationship by which I might actually have the opportunity to have children (and am capable), I will more than likely have them vaccinated. Food for thought for those advocating otherwise...

Well said, Lora. Of course - let's just issue a blanket ban on all medication while we're at it. That will stop all of the evil pharmaceutical companies in their tracks.

Of course, we'll all die of nasty diseases pretty quickly, but it will TOTALLY be worth it.

Lora, you have got to be fucking kidding me. Are you really that stupid? getting AIDS from a polio vaccine? It's not random like that. You don't just "get" some random but very bad and scary disease because you get vaccinated for a specific but also scary disease.

I honestly don't know enough about the polio vaccine, but I'd hazard a guess that it included some form of the poliovirus - if it's a live vaccine, of course there's a chance of transmission. But even at that, the chance of transmission is less than the risk of getting the disease without the vaccine. Dropping the global incidence of polio from 330,000 to 1,000 per year? Worth a slight risk. Ask the 329,000 people EVERY YEAR who were spared of being infected with polio.

(just did a VERY quick perusal of wikipedia, turns out Salk's original vaccine used inactivated virulent poliovirus. I suppose there might be a slight risk that some of the virus survived exposure to formalin - omg! formalin! in a vaccine! this explains the autism epidemic!)

And I agree. We should have TOTALLY nailed AIDS and autism by now. I mean, come ON! Why hasn't someone invented a pill to cure those yet? Because medicine is exactly that simple. Something wrong? There's an easy fix. Someone just has to find the right pill. Or they need to WANT to find the right pill.

Sorry, she may have got it in the early 60's. I am not exactly sure of her age.
We should have Autism and AIDs nailed down by now.
What is our problem?
