Sketch Fighter 4000

TUAW linked to a new game by Ambrosia Software. I’ve had a soft spot for Ambrosia since way back in the pre-MacOSX days when I was hooked on Maelstrom.

Sketch Fighter 4000 is a strange hybrid game. It’s basically an old-school game, a combination of Asteroids, Space Castle, Defender, etc… But, it’s rendered as if it’s being sketched in ink on paper. When you shoot things, they blow up, leaving scorch marks on the paper. Or are they eraser smudge marks?

In another nod to old school games, it comes complete with a level editor and sample custom levels. It has multiplayer game types, either sharing a single computer or over the LAN (I haven’t tried multiplayer yet). As an added bonus, the game plays great on my Powerbook. I’ve bought my license already. It’s totally addictive. Damn you, Ambrosia Software!

Did you try contacting the developers? They would likely re-issue your registration to you.

dude. if you had a valid registration, AmbrosiaSW would gladly reissue it to you. If not, you’re asking me to pirate software for you. I don’t think so. If you paid for a license, contact AmbrosiaSW and tell them you lost it, and I’m sure they’ll hook you up. If you didn’t pay for it, then settle for the free demo, or buy a license. But stop asking me to share mine, illegally.

Jerome, that’s interesting, since AmbrosiaSW’s support page has a special email address for requesting lost license codes. It’d be silly of them to go to the trouble of setting up a support page and lostcodes email address, just to say they don’t re-issue license codes.

I’m not sharing my license. That would violate the license terms. Dig through your email inbox, or contact Ambrosia’s lostcodes@ambrosiasw.com address.

I like the scorch marks on paper an interesting concept for sketch fighter!

So, have you gotten past the ‘tank’? Or through the racetrack? I can’t seem to do either. I’ve come close to killing the tank but those stupid mines always get me in the end. what am i missing?

I’m stuck on the racetrack. Haven’t tried in the last few days, though…

To be honest, i don’t have $19.00 to pay for the game but i would like the cd key to be able to play it. If you don’t want to help me, I completly understand, but it would be greatly apreciated.

Sketchfighter is a heap good game. Even though I only have the demo, it’s still a cool game. And the music is mad, too.

PS. Anyone know where to get the music?

This totally reminds me of the stick man army games that I used to play in elementary school :)

Yeah, Raj. I hear that. It’s an old-old-school game mashed up with an old-school game or two, mashed up with kick-ass graphics/animation/sound :-)

Oh, and it’s REALLY fun! :-)

Rob – yup, when I played you have five or ten guys that have to move around a maze in a squad (with or without anti-grav boots) and they shot at the other teams by “firing the pencil” (hold the pencil, tip down like a pool cue and then nudge it to see if you can draw a line to the opposing forces to hit one of their guys) – many a page of elementary and Jr. High notes gave their legibility for those games – as did a fair number of mechanical pencils.

OK – I’ve just managed to let half a day pass by without doing any of my “must do” projects. Curse you, D’Arcy Norman!

But yeah – very cool, and totally addictive!

Raj, was the stick man army game the one where you put the tip of your pencil on the tank/soldier then pushed on the eraser end trying to shoot the tanks/soldiers of your friend’s army. Wow – I hadn’t thought about that in years, but I think I wasted lots of time in school on that. Not much has changed, I guess :^D

Jerome, you have to buy your own license code. I did. If you use the game, support the developers. And don’t come to my place looking for warez and serials.
