For one, it was chosen as the official web content management system at the U of C, so all faculties and departments have IT support to use it. It's amazingly flexible - which is both a blessing and a curse. It's lightweight (no heavyweight install, just copy some .php files to a server). It's got great theme/template support. There are modules to do just about anything you can imagine. It's got an awesome and mature open source community. etc... Patricia, we’re using Drupal for a few reasons.
