Edublogs Reading List on BlogBridge

Filed under: Uncategorized. Tags: , ,

I was asked to share my Edublogs reading list, which is published automatically by my copy of BlogBridge, in the BlogBridge Topic Guides website. It's basically a web front end for the .opml file generated by BlogBridge, but it might be a handy way to share the list.

So, now I'm a "BlogBridge Topic Expert" – I'm rather uncomfortable with the term "expert" but it's their word, not mine. The new Edublogs Reading List is online, and (I think) should stay synced with my list in BlogBridge, so maintenance won't be a problem.

Thank you for this. It’s a great resource.

Who’s predictions it was that in future there will be a new profession of “information filters” whose work is to share their sources of information with peers who share the same interests? Negroponte?

Paypal? May I pay you something? :-)

D’Arcy, I was reading this post and an earlier one where you describe Blogbridge (http://www.darcynorman.net/2006/07/30/blogbridge-3-0) and thinking I would really love to see a screencast from D’Arcy using Blogbridge in action but specifically talking about the kinds of things it enables that something like Bloglines does not. We’ve talked before about the advantages of thicker clients for aggregation and while I am intrigued, Bloglines is so entrenched in my daily workflow that I still have a hard time understanding why I’d want to change.

In general I think such a screencast of an ‘expert’ like yourself wielding their aggregator could be really useful to show instructors and other newcomers what someone effectively coping with the tsunami of information looks like, as I think this is often one of the missing pieces when we all evangelize blogs to them.

    Cheers, Scott

  3. Hey D’Arcy, you’re finally a librarian, congratulations! :-) I found it really interesting to see the thumbnails of many of the blogs I read but never visit outside my aggregator.

Scott – I’ve been planning on doing a Blogbridge screencast for awhile now. Just need to find/make the time :-)

If it was easy to maintain the iPodder.org directory, I’d probably still be keeping it active. This is so cool because it just pumps out of what I’m already doing. Nothing extra. Find a new feed? Subscribe to it in the Edublogs guide, flag it with 3 or more stars, and it will automatically get added to the shared list. Very cool stuff.

Teemu – you’re welcome. The cool thing is that this type of sharing takes literally no effort in addition to what I’m already doing. It’s not Yet Another Task – it’s fed automatically by watching my behaviour in my feedreader, and is based at least partially on monitoring my attention stream. That’s what’s so cool about it (to me, anyway). No payment necessary!
