Hot. Damned hot.

Woah. What a heat wave we’ve had the last couple of days. No doubt about global warming any more. This was taken outside my house in NW Calgary about 10 minutes ago (just before 3:30pm):
That’s 47.2?C or 117?F. Odds are, the temperature will rise a bit more in the late afternoon heat.
47.2?C. In Calgary. Canada. My igloo is melting. It’s 29?C inside, with all fans running at full blast. No AC, because it’s not worth the cost for the 1 week per year it’s needed.
But, at 15% humidity, at least it’s a dry heat. Ouch! Alan, that hurt!
Oh, and I realize I’m dabbling in the banal again. Screw it. It’s my blog, dammit. And it’s hot outside.

bah! we set the USA record here in woodland hills: 119 degrees.
They used this photo on the local GlobalTV 6pm newscast… freaky hot…
d – yeah, and that was ambient air temp, which would have blown this away. come back to the Great White North… At least it got down to 12˚C last night!
And I thought 30 degrees was hot! Damn.
I'm glad I'm here in Vancouver then!
D'Arcy, I think you're not supposed to set those things in the direct sun – there's no way it was above the mid 30's today, even in treeless Tuscany!
It was pretty hazy out front. only had direct sun briefly while I took the shot. Still… pretty darned hot out there…
We were in Calgary for a wedding this weekend.
My wife (Martha) and I walked from the Sheraton hotel in the Eau Claire Market to the First Baptist Church–10 or 12 blocks– for the 2:00 pm wedding.
Finding the "shady side of the street" became a survival strategy by the end of the trek.
