Go Oilers!

Wow. Calgary didn’t even show up to game 7. No energy. No chemistry. They couldn’t keep the puck on a stick no matter what they did. What a shame, because they had played so well all season, only to crumble in the playoffs.

Here’s hoping the Oilers can keep the Stanley Cup in Alberta…

The Wings had a strange series with weak defense and a shaky goalie which has pretty much plagued the team the playoffs the last few years. Their home crowd was no help (Edmonton’s was amazing) and their health was questionable. The Oilers will have to play better in the next round even though they played amazing well in the first.

I hope they can win… but I can’t see anyone stopping New Jersey at the moment.

Scott – the Flames HAVE goal scorers. They just have to play. There have been some great moments in some of the other games of the series, with players stepping up all over the place. But that completely evaporated last night.

Dude, I totally felt for you last night watching the game (and secretly fear that the resulting mass depression that will undoubtedly sweep Calgary may well result in a massive economic downturn felt across Canada and no end of political turmoil, Calgary being the new Ottawa and all) but man did they suck. You could almost see the whites of their knuckles they were clenching their sticks so hard. Getta on the phone and tell ol’ Sutter to get himself some goal scorers in the off season!

I enjoy reading your blog as a fellow higher ed technologist…but all things being equal…a not so healthy Steve Yzerman almost put you into a game seven by hitting the post. What a wacky playoff outcome in the western conference. seriously.

don – actually I’m a flames fan. almost choked when I wrote “Go Oilers!” – something in the DNA of a Calgarian makes that difficult. That said, yeah it’s been wacky. Every team that should have had a clear run at the cup has been knocked off by underdogs. I’m guessing there will be much off-season soul searching and team rebuilding. Next year will be better.

There is always next year…

I must admit it was almost as hard writing this morning that I was pulling a bit for the Flames last night. They literally put me to sleep with play last night. But in their defense, Anahiem isn’t that interesting to watch.

Yeah, I was hoping that Calgary would win too. Nothing would have made me happier than watching the Oilers knock the Flames out of the playoffs! (You can take the boy out of Edmonton, but you can’t take the Edmonton out of the boy) ;^D
