D-- I am getting set to do some very similar things here at PSU. I get a mixed bag of interest about podcasting. On one hand, I get more email about podcasting than anything else, but still so many people not getting it. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Yeah. It's kind of a mixed bag on my campus, too. On the one hand, most people don't really know what it is, but are curious. On the other hand, we're busy writing press releases committing to being the number 1 innovative podcasting campus in Canada. Might have a bit of work to do toward that end, nevermind the whole buzzword != innovation != good teaching issue. I figure I'll start with a brief tech demo, then move on to show some uses that might actually be pedagogically useful or even interesting. I plan on borrowing liberally from your work, Cole... :-)

I'll also see what I can do to record the whole thing. Ideally, including video of myself and any "volunteers", screencam views, visualizer views of the iPod, etc...

I would generally agree that there are mixed feelings out there about the value of podcasting - especially with the current hype and whispers of "fad, fad". But if you look at those who *are* interested, they're very eager to learn more. I'm finding that podcasting is the shallow end of eLearning/Web/buzzword 2.0 and allows people to gradually progress into deeper water. I recently had someone stop by to ask for instructions on installing Moodle, just for the sake of giving it a try!

Hi D'Arcy,

Just thought I'd let you know about EduPress which I've adapted from Wordpress. It's got plugins such as podpress installed by default and uses the K2 theme. Give it a look/spin! :)
