I'm a big fan of the rush through security as well, although boarding is by far my favourite. The attendant announces "Now calling all first class passengers" and 100 people stand up and move towards the gate. I *know* there aren't that many first class seats, so there's gotta be a reason these people are boarding so early - they want to sit where they want and not where their ticket tells them! Glad to hear you stood up to sprawl woman, if we all do our part maybe we can change the world of ignorant rude travellers.

breathe in, breathe out. now repeat after me, there is nothing natural about entering a metal tube and emerging a few hours later thousands of kilometers from where you started. nothing. so just rejoice in the fact that you can, and ask the doc for some seconals if you have too ;-)

d - the last thing I wanted was to have more contact with Sprawler. Smacking her ass would have pushed me over the edge, and not in the good way...

Alan - I've simmered down a bit ;-) Walking in the rain and enjoying the meetings at the museums helped a bit... There's also a related automotive effect called "lane traversal acceleration" whereby you can get to the offramp most effectively if you stay in the far lane until the last second and then just dive across 5 lanes of gridlock, while neglecting to signal...

Dude, simmer down, have a few espressos ;-) I am jealous you get to go to pachyderm fest, but then again, you've done a s*** load of work.

As far as the gate rush, there's nothing like seeing how early someone is willing to approach the 3 tiered lines for Southwest Air, and quickly the others follow.

As far as the rush to the seating, it is a well known physical principle that rushing to your seat will make th eplane fly faster. Sort of like "creepforce", the automobile phenomena where traffic lights will change more quickly if you keep creeping forward at a red light.
