ipodder Education Podcast Directory
2004 November 26
I volunteered to manage an Education node of the iPodder.org podcast directory.
It’s kinda empty at the moment. If you know of any education-related podcasts, please let me know if it should be included in the directory.

Hello. Something seems to be wrong with the iPodder.org educational directory. It comes up with XML errors on both the main directory page (the link) and the actual page.
I also wanted to offer my podcast as a link when it gets fixed.
My podcast is located at http://www.intelligenic.com/kidcast/rss.xml
It is called KidCast and it features educational tips for teachers looking to integrate podcasting into their curriculum.
Heh. That’s bizarre! Looks like the iPodder directory is choking on the xml from Dave Winer’s OPML app…
First Podcast from Chile is in San Fernando – VI Region.

Hello D’arcy:
My name is hoe bing, I’m a neuroscientist from Melbourne Uni. I am currently running a podcast blog on the subject of attention deficit disorder (ADHD).
I believe that this issue is under addressed particularly in school and a lot of things need to be done to address the increasing incidence of this dis-order.
Please visit my blog and have a listen. It is at http://www.theadhdspecialist.com/adhdblog/podcast.html
I would appreciate us linking forces by first exchanging links and also exchanging content.
Perhaps other educators would like to contribute to the blog as well?
This will stimulate much needed discussion and promote progress in the area.
Looking forward to a positive response.
Warmest regards, Hoe Bing

The weekly podcast, which is broadcast over the Web and can be accessed on a computer or MP3 player, was developed by co-hosts Kathy King, Ed.D., director of the RETC, and Mark Gura, a professional developer and outreach coordinator for the RETC. Since its launch in August 2005, more than 20,000 listeners have tuned into an edition of Podcast for Teachers (aka Techpod, Podcast for Teachers) to gain professional development on the topic of educational technology, curriculum and innovations.
POD Network is an international professional association for higher education faculty developers, administrators and instructors involved in professional development. Gura, a former director of instructional technology for New York City’s Department of Education, accepted the award at the POD annual conference on behalf of the RETC and presented a “poster session,” during which he explained the project and interviewed participants about their reactions to the program and delivery method.
“This is truly mobile learning, or m-learning,” King said. “This puts discussions and interviews about educational technology innovations, curriculum and tips into the hands of educators around the world at no cost. This not only is a broadcast, but also portable, on-demand professional development, because it is available for retrieval on the RETC website and through media and podcast directories anytime, anywhere.”
“From software applications to intimate conversations with notable and experienced educators, ed techies and authors, this is a must-hear weekly digital adventure,” King said. About RETC and Fordham The Regional Educational Technology Center (RETC) is dedicated to serving and researching the professional development needs of educators striving to improve student and teacher performance. The center’s award-winning programs serve educators across grade levels and contexts, providing in-class and distance learning opportunities. These efforts span K-12, adult education and higher education settings. Programs engaging K-12 educators particularly emphasize educational technology. The RETC was established, in part, through a $9 million grant as part of the New York State’s Higher Education Applied Technology Legislation of 1995.
